“Blessed to Be a Blessing”

The Short-term Mission Trips of St. Paul for 2008

“I will bless you… and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 12:2-3

When God spoke these words to Abraham, He was announcing not only His wondrous blessings upon Abraham and his family – but also how the entire world would eventually be blessed through Abraham’s descendants. That promised blessing God was speaking of came to fulfillment in His Son, Jesus Christ, the descendant of Abraham. And so, through Abraham all peoples on earth have been blessed for Christ has come as their Lord and Savior!

It is our calling as the Blessed Children of God to share the blessing of Jesus with others and to be a blessing to them as we do so. One, vitally important way we accomplish this at St. Paul is through our short-term mission trips. In our mission trips we cross boundaries of language & culture to share the Blessing of Jesus with others.

There are four short-term mission trips tentatively scheduled for 2008 and you are invited to pray about being a part of them. We have listed them below and we ask that you to let us know if you feel God is leading you to participate.
Remember: as a child of God you have been richly blessed! Be a blessing to the peoples of the earth!

-------------------------- The Mission Trips --------------------------

❏ Chistochina, Alaska (mid-June). We will again host a Vacation Bible School / Day Camp Ministry among the Athabaskan Native Alaskans. This will be the fourth mission trip to that tiny population where the hope of the Gospel so desperately needs to be shared. We work through Alaska Mission for Christ.

❏ Workcamp at Mattoon, Illinois (June 22-28). For a seventh year in a row, both junior and senior high students will have the opportunity to help low-income families rehab & repair their homes. This is a truly wondrous experience that encourages personal, spiritual growth among the participants even as we are working hard to help these families.

We will be conducting eyeglass clinics on behalf of the Lutheran Church of Guatemala. In addition we hope to add a dental clinic component to this mission trip.

❏ Ciudad Juarez, Mexico (August 2-9). For a fifth year in a row God is calling us to be a blessing to the people of Juarez. Working through Ysletat Mission for Christ we seek to build a house (or church), distribute shoes to children, conduct a Vacation Bible School and possibly provide another dental clinic. In the past we have worked in the Anapra & Kilometre 20 areas of Juarez.
