What Are We Studying in First Grade? Reading: Honey Bees Pages 140-157(Test on Thursday) Religion: Daniel and his Friends, Daniel and the Lions Spelling: Test on Friday. Spelling Activity: due Friday December 5. Week 13: Write your words three times and circle the consonants Math: Properties of Plane Shapes, Same Shape Same Size, Symmetry, Slides, Flips, and Turns, Making a List Social Studies: Native Americans Health: Squeaky Clean Handwriting: Letters Qq and Jj Writing: Nouns in Sentences Reading Strategies/ Skills: Compare and Contrast, Preview Science: Review for test on Tuesday, December 9
Starting in November: Please read with your child for at least 50 minutes a week at home. Record items read on the reading log. Any material counts for example: newspapers, magazines, books, library books, cooking recipes, etc. Have your child read to you, but please read to them to model good reading practices. Complete the reading log and return the following Monday.

Important Notes We are collecting dish soap bottles that are 16 or 18 ounces for our thanksgiving project. The dish soap bottle should have the “people shape”- see the sample in the classroom.
Please look for the gingerbread people at the H.I.P. as they will not be returned. Who can find the gingerbread people?
Senora’ Chess has asked first grade to listen to their Spanish CD’s for homework. This composes part of their Spanish grade.
