  • Spelling Activities- Due Every Friday

 

  • Week 1: Write a sentence for each word, underline the spelling words.
  •  Week 2: Write your words in three different media (colored pencil, crayon, marker, pencil, pen or etc.)
  • Week 3: Type the words 3 times
  • Week 4: Classify the words by ABC. (Put all of the A words together and  all of the B words together; within the A’s they do not need to be in alphabetical order,)
  • Week 5: Make flashcards for each word and turn in the flashcards.
  • Week 6: Free Choice
  • Week 7: Have a practice test and turn your test in.
  • Week 8: Illustrate the spelling words, or make a picture and hide the words in your picture.
  • Week 9: Make a word search. Use puzzlemaker.com
  • Week 10: Make a puzzle for each word turn in the puzzle. Break up the letters on 2-4 puzzle pieces per word.
  • Week 11: Write the words 3 times and Circle the vowels.
  • Week 12: Free Choice
  • Week 13: Write each word 3 times and circle the consonants.
  • Week 14: Write each non-stared word three times. For the stared words write them once and write 2 rhyming words for each stared word.
  • Week 15: Have someone write the spelling words twice leaving out the vowels. Then you are to fill in the vowels and turn it in.
  • Week 16: Have someone write clues for the spelling words. Write you guess on the back. Turn in the clues with the guesses. For example what is pointed, and in the sky? A star
  • Week 17: Clap and spell the words, or do exercises for each letter of the word . Have someone write a note saying you completed the activity.
  • Week 18: Free Choice
  • Week 19: Write a poem/ cheer/ or a song with your spelling words.
  • Week 20: Make a paper word chain with the words. Each word should be on  the chain 5 times.
  • Week 21: Scrambled words- Have someone mix up the letters for each word and you have to put the letters in the correct order. Turn in your paper for a grade.
  • Week 22: Magazine/ newspaper- Cut out the letters for your words out of a magazine or a newspaper. Put them in order and turn in your artwork.
  • Week 23: Pyramid Words - Write your words adding or subtracting one letter at a time. The result will be a pyramid shape of words.
  • Week 24: Free Choice
  • Week 25: Good Clean Words -Write your words in shaving cream on a counter or some other surface that can be cleaned safely.
  • Week 26:  Read a spelling word aloud and have the students write it down.  Using the last letter in that word, students must write another word beginning with that last letter.  They continue the train using the last letter of the word.  Make a train for each word and add on 4 new cars (words)
  • Example:

    tan
    nap
    pot
  • Week 27: Delicious words - Write your words in whipped cream, peanut butter, or anything you can eat! Bring in a note from a parent!
  • Week 28: Other Handed - If you are right-handed, write with your left, or vice versa. Write each word 5 times with each hand.
  • Week 29: Flash writing - In a darkened room, use a flashlight to draw letters in the air.

  • Week 32: Spell your words with yarn, beads, beans, glitter, etc. glued on paper. Make art out of your words.
  • Week 33: Free Choice
  •  Week 34: Write your spelling words on cards (make two sets) and play "Memory Match" with them.         
  • Week 35: Free Choice  
  • Week 36: Pick 15  Words and have free choice for your spelling activity.
