Emergency Closing
or Delay Information

Site Map | School Home Page | Classroom Pages

To help better inform our parents of emergency school closings, we will implement a telephone chain system utilizing the school directory in the event school is closed. Please observe the following procedure:

  1. A staff member will phone the first person on each page of the directory.
  2. That person will call the next family on the same page and pass the message along. That family should in turn call the next family listed and so on until the end of the page. Please make every effort to talk to an ADULT when calling.
  3. If a family has an unlisted number, skip them and call the next family.
  4. If you can't reach the family you are supposed to call after a reasonable amount of time, skip ahead and call the next family listed so that the chain is not broken.
  5. The last person on the page does not make any further calls.
  6. Those families who do not have numbers listed in the directory will be called by a staff member.

In the event of severe weather conditions with the possibility of school closing, please keep your telephone line open. Listen to the radio or TV for the announcements of closings** and wait for your call, OR you can call 847-238-1234 and enter St Paul's phone number (708-867-5044) to find out if school is closed.

You can now also go online at www.EmergencyClosings.com to check our status or you can sign-up for personalized E-mail notification at this website (Facility: St. Paul Lutheran School City: Norwood Park)

This system will only work as well as our families make it work. Your attention to the details of the phoning procedure is important. With everyone doing their part this can be a successful procedure!

** Authorized broadcast announcements will be made over AM stations WGN RADIO 720 and WBBM NEWSRADIO 780, as well as TV stations CBS, NBC, ABC, WGN, FOX, and CLTV cable notifying you in the event closing school is necessary. We will be identified as:

ST PAUL LUTHERAN SCHOOL - NORWOOD PARK

The determination for school closing is based on the degree of difficulty with which staff members and our families would be able to make it to school and the intensity and location of the storm. School will not be closed on the basis of storm predictions only!
