Deaconess Karen Rubel

Karen Rubel was born and raised in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.  As a child she took frequent trips to Chicago with her parents and brother to visit her grandparents.  After two-and-a-half years at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Karen transferred to Concordia University River Forest (now Chicago), where she graduated with her Deaconess certification.  Now Karen has returned to Chicago to serve as deaconess (Director of Outreach and Compassion Ministries) at St. Paul.

Karen was blessed to serve a year-and-a-half deaconess internship at Luther-Tyndale Memorial Church in London, UK.  After her returning stateside, she worked at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, Wisconsin as church secretary and was trained as a Stephen Ministry Leader. 

As deaconess, Karen will be working both with outreach and compassion ministries.  She will be working with Stephen Ministry, visitation, and outreach here at St. Paul.
