St Paul Wildcats Cheerleading

Coach: Vicki Simpson

Welcome to Cheerleading! This is my eighth year of coaching Cheerleading at St. Paul. Attached you will find my Cheerleading Guidelines. Please read them carefully and let me know if you have any questions.

The past few years have been a lot of fun! We have even gone to a Cheerleading Competition, which will be my goal for this year if there are enough participants. We will do a fundraiser this year to pay for accessories for game uniforms and to have a fund for competition. We use our Pom Poms during Home games only. The Pom Poms add some fun and color to our cheers!

At the end of the season, I will have the annual Cheerleading Pizza Party. I hand out a special something at the party.

Also, you will receive ribbons, cheer pins and Award Certificates, which will be handed out at the Awards Banquet at the end of the school year.

As your coach, I am available at all times. If you have questions, doubts or situations, please do not hesitate to call me. My home phone number is in the School Directory.

Again, Welcome to Cheerleading ~ Go Wildcats!!!

Cheerleading Guidelines

  • You must have a physical before joining any sport. Cheerleading is a sport, so you will need a physical. You can obtain a form from Mr. Heinze or the school office. This form must be turned in before the practice on November ___
  • If you are in Basketball and Cheerleading, your grade average needs to be 3.0. You also may not be getting an F or two D’s in any subject areas. If this grade average is not maintained, you will not be able to continue your participation in Cheerleading.
  • Remember, this is a Christian school. Inappropriate behavior will be dealt with by Mr. Heinze and myself.
  • I will be handing out a schedule of all of the games for the 2006-2007 season later in the month. Please review the schedule. In order to be in Cheerleading you must be able to attend all of the games. Emergency and Special occasions will be dealt on a case-by-case basis.
  • Practice will be on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. You will be expected to attend practice every week. If you do not attend the Saturday practice before the week of games, you will forfeit your right to cheer for that week. Also, if you miss more than 2 unexcused practices, you will forfeit your place on the squad.
  • If there is a game on the weekend, you must attend Church either Sunday morning or Saturday evening service.
  • I will provide Cheerleading t-shirts and shorts to been worn on Saturday practices. These uniforms will be paid for from the Cheerleading fund. This uniform must be worn every Saturday or you will sit out for the day and not cheer during that week’s game. You may wear a sweatshirt and a pair of sweat pants for warm up only.
  • All uniforms and pom poms are the property of St. Paul Lutheran School. The uniforms are yours to take home and care for during the season. The pom poms will be handed out at Home games only. You will be charged for any uniform damages.
  • A standard sock and spanky will be handed out before the first game. The socks should be worn for every game so that we can look uniformed properly. The spankies are yours to keep at the end of the season.
  • The required shoe is a plain white gym shoe. I have several Cheer catalogs that you can look at to get an idea of what to buy. I do not require you buy it from a Cheer catalog. Payless has the same shoes for a lesser price.
  • If you are in 7th grade you will automatically be a Cheerleader for the 2008-2009 season. (As long as your grade point average is 3.0)
